Harley raking, and why do I need it?

A Harley rake, also known as a soil conditioner, is an attachment that is mounted on a skid steer. This tool is used for preparing seed beds for new lawns. With gauge wheels and a width of 90 inches, it works great for leveling lawns by blending the high and low spots together. The cutting edge or bullets on the rake do a good job of leveling the ground. However, the machine can only dig in up to 2 inches deep, so depending on the job, rototilling may be necessary to break up the sod before using the rake. The rake can be angled to windrow debris, and the drum counter-rotates depending on the direction, allowing soil conditioning in either direction.

The Harley rake can also be used to repair driveways. By loosing up the top few inches of material it grades and can crown a driveway to help shed water.
